Size of the Grow box

Size of grow box

In my research for constructing a grow box, I found that although a grow box can be any size, a 'standard sized grow box ' should be 30 feet long by 5 feet wide. This width of five feet would allow for easy access into the centre of the box without excessive stretching or stepping into the grow box. Based on the research I, therefore, began my project of constructing my first set of grow boxes.

This grow box is 5 feet wide by 10 feet long.
To get the five feet width inside the grow box a "one in one out" pattern was used to construct the corners of the grow box.

My first set of grow boxes consisted of three neatly constructed grow boxes with pathways to accommodate equipment and easy access to all sides of the grow boxes.

These grow boxes, however, proved to be too wide, as access to the middle of the grow box proved to be extremely difficult. This width may be ideal for a person who is a bit taller than I am, but for an average-height person (between 5 and 6 feet tall), the box should not be this wide.

After harvesting the first set of vegetables from these grow boxes, the grow boxes were reconstructed to a width of 4 feet to allow for easier access to the middle of the box. Rather than using four concrete blocks for the width of the grow box, as shown in the picture above, three blocks were used instead (see pictures below).

As you can see from these grow boxes, three blocks were used to construct the width of the grow box.
This allowed for easier access to the centre of the grow box, without having to do excessive stretching or stepping into the grow box.
